Who is Michel Telo ?
Michel Telo is a composer and singer from Brazil.
After performing as lead singer for more than 10 years with several different bands, he decided to go solo and has made three albums so far.
Personal Life Michel Teló :
Michel Telo is the son of Nina and Aldo, both from Brazil. Growing up his parents had a bakery and three healthy children, Michel being the youngest of the family. Teo Telo, one of Michel’s brothers, is a producer and the other, Teofilo works in the business world
Career of Michel Teló :
Throughout 2011 Michel Telo performed in more than 240 shows. The singer has broken records with the release of his internationally acclaimed song: ”Ai se eu te Pego” a number one in most European countries, Latin America and the province of Québec, Canada. Many football players have used the signature dance to “Ai Se Eu Te Pego,” during goal celebrations, spreading the song’s popularity such as Neymar, Cristiano Ronalo and Eric Abidal, after scoring a goal.
Awards and Nominations Michel Telo :
The first solo album of Michel’s career brought ´´Balada Sertaneja´´ which resulted in two singles: “Ei, psiu! Beijo me liga”, and “Amanhã sei lá”. The album was eventually nominated for “Musical Revelation of the Year”. His live album Michel Teló – Ao Vivo was very successful and brought him a nomination for a Latin Grammy “Best Sertanejo Album”. In 2011 Michel was nominated at the 2011 “Melhores do Movimento Country” for: “Best Singer Solo”, “Hit of the Year” for “Ai se eu te pego!”, “Best CD” for album Michel Teló – Ao Vivo, and “Best Show”. Michel was also nominated for four categories in Premio Multishow de Música Brasileira for “Best Singer”, “Musical Revelation,” “Best Sertanejo Artist” and “Best Music” for “Ai se eu te pego!”
The beginning of a talent :
Since the early years of Michel Teló, the singer was dedicated to making music. His musical career began in 1987 when he made his first solo performance in his school choir, singing a piece by Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos at the age of 6. His father gave him an accordion when he turned 10 and that allowed his talents to grow to the next level. At the age of 12, upon encouragement by neighbors, school friends and his brothers, he formed a young band for playing traditional music, which was called “Guri” and served to strengthen Teló taste in music in a professional organized manner. He was the band’s lead singer and composer. Besides his love for the harmonica, Michel also took piano lessons for five years. He was also dancer and played the accordion, harmonica and guitar.
Charity Michel Telo :
Telo’s love goes beyond just music. He is also committed to helping those less fortunate. Michel Teló believes that all people should have a good life. In August 2011, Teló took part in the 26th edition of Criança Esperança charity programme alongside Brazilian musicians Leonardo, Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano, Chitãozinho & Xororó and Adair Cardoso. In December 2011, he took part in the 13th edition of Futebol contra a Fome (Portuguese for “Football Against Hunger”) charity event at Parque do Sabiá in Uberlândia.
